Bacolod City confirms first coronavirus case

Mayor Evelio "Bing" Leonardia on Friday, March 20, confirmed the first case of coronavirus (COVID-19). The person under investigation (PUI) has been confirmed with Covid-19 and has a travel history from London.


Health official said, the 56-year-old patient is now recovering after being isolated in medical facility.



Bacolod City was placed under "general community quarantine" on Sunday, restricting travel to and from the city in an effort the possible spread of coronavirus disease.

In an executive order, Mayor Evelio Leonardia has restricted the travel to Bacolod - whether by land, sea or air.

Movement of goods and cargo to and from the city will not be restricted but persons transporting them will be subject to health procedures by authorities, according to Leonarda.

As of this posting another 13 cases of coronavirus recorded in the Philippines according to the Department of Health, bringing the total to 230.

Death raises to 18 and 8 patients recovered.
