South Korea recorded 1,062 new coronavirus cases in a day, raising total to 4,212

South Korea has recorded a whopping number of COVID-19 cases in a day with 1,062, according to Sin Chew Daily report.

The recent figure obtained on Monday, March 2, brings the total confirmed coronavirus cases in South Korea to 4,212 - the highest number of infections outside mainland China.

The death toll rose to 22, up from 20, according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Around 377 were from the southern city of Daegu, where a home to a religious cult native to the country called the Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

The agency said some members of the church in January visited the central Chinese city of Wuhan, where the disease emerged late last year.
