Six-month-old baby with heart and lung condition survives COVID-19



Meet the six-month-old Erin Bates who fought through a rare heart and lung conditions has survived COVID-19. The baby from Manchester, England received a standing ovation from a cheering NHS staff as she was escorted through the hospital.


Weeks before her full recovery, her parents were very devastated and hopeless saying that they were going to lose her. It can be seen Erin is hooked up with oxygen and surrounded with machines to monitor her condition.

In her six short months, Erin had undergone open-heart surgery to treat a rare condition called Tetralogy of Fallot.


Her mother Emma Bates who was completely devastated took to social media after learning the critical condition of her baby, warned people to take the coronavirus seriously and she also asked to pray for the recovery of her daughter.


After Erin's condition made headlines together with her photos, Mr and Mrs Bates received an outpouring of support in social media describing their daughter as a 'brave little fighter'.


“Today, little Erin beat COVID-19 after testing negative and received a guard of honour by the treating team on our HDU (High Dependency Unit) as she was moved out of isolation.

“She is still being treated for other conditions at Alder Hey, but is making good progress,” the Facebook post read.
