Emirates airline set to cut 9,000 jobs

Emirates airline has plans to cut jobs by 15% during the novel coronavirus pandemic, which is equivalent to about 9000 workers. The news broke out after Emirates president Sir Tim Clark said in an interview with BBC news.

Just like any other global airline carrier that has been severely impacted by the health pandemic, Emirates halted its operations in late March as part of global shutdown to control the spread of the virus.

Sir Tim, however, says his airline is "not as badly off as others."

“We will probably have to let go of a few more, probably up to 15%.” -Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates Airline via BBC.

The Middle Eastern giant has employed some 60,000 staff, including 4,300 pilots and nearly 22,000 cabin crew before the pandemic hit.
