Mika Salamanca arrested in Hawaii for violating 14-day quarantine

Vlogger Mika Salamanca was arrested in Honolulu Hawaii after officials learned she was out in public four days after she arrived from Manila, according to KITV ABC Island reports.

According to the videos provided to Hawaii attorney general's office, it shows her dancing in a store and dining out when she was supposed to be in quarantine, prompting the order of arrest.

Salamanca, who has over 2.3 million followers on her YouTube channel was quick to address the issue on her latest video.

"Inaamin ko po na nagkamali po ako nong time na dumating po ako dito sa Hawaii at agad po kaming lumabas."

"As far as I can remember, na settled na namin yun, meron pong may nag report at nag complain. So, ang mga law enforcers po, pinuntahan nila ako dito sa bahay kung saan ako nagka quarantine, Sila po mismo nagsabi sakin na, 'You're not in trouble. If you're negative, you can go out'," she said.

“None of my investigators would convey that information, as it is incorrect,” Hawaii Attorney General Clare Connors said. “The fact Ms. Salamanca has so many followers makes her actions that much more dangerous and concerning. The spread of misinformation can have very severe consequences during an emergency situation like we are in now.”

Salamanca's relatives had posted $2,000 bail on her behalf.

She is the 24th person on O'ahu arrested by the Dept. of the Attorney General for violating quarantine rules.
