Veteran journalist Howie Severino apprehended by police for lowering face mask and brought for public seminar

The kapuso journalist Howie Severino was detained by Quezon City law enforcers during his morning bike ride with friends, shortly after he took off his face mask for drink along Mother Ignacia Avenue.

"We were all wearing masks. We bought drinks at the store next door, and drank them after pulling down our masks below the mouth (because we have not learned to drink yet with masks on)," Severino recalled.

He had just finished his drink and the moment he was about to pull up his face mask, members of the QC Police arrived and told him that he was talking without wearing the mask properly. Then he was informed that he has to be brought to Amoranto stadium to attend a seminar.

"They allowed me to bring my bike and we loaded it into the vehicle that brought me to the stadium where hundreds of people rounded up were already there milling around, interacting with law enforcers, or penned inside a basketball court, a super spreader event if I ever saw one," he described.

Severino, who has been infected with the virus and has already recovered, said that he is glad to see that Quezon City was doing something, knowing that the city was a epicenter of the disease.
