American rapper Kanye West revealed in an interview with Nick Cannon that God told him to interrupt Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009.
"If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row... I had never heard of this person before and ‘Single Ladies’ is one of the greatest videos of all time," he said.
“I would’ve been sitting in the back and they would’ve made it the first award and he wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous,” he added.
The incident happened 11-years ago when Taylor Swift was just 19, she accepted the award for her Best Female Video for her song You Belong With Me. Unexpectedly, West ran up onstage and took the mike to shout out Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video because he believed Beyounce deserved the trophy.
