The real champ is on the move to help DepEd's distance learning. Senator Manny Pacquiao has committed to shoulder the cost of TV utilization to be used by the Department of Education (DepEd) this coming school year.
"Galing ako sa hirap kaya alam ko ang nararamdaman ng mga mag-aaral at mga magulang nila," Pacquiao said.
“Alam ko din na hindi pa 100% coverage yang internet natin sa Pilipinas, kaya kahit me pambili ka ng laptop o gadget, hindi ka pa din nakakaseguru na aabot sayo ang mga aralin buhat sa DepEd,’’ he added.
In a report with GMA News, Pacquiao cited an example that there are some students came from far-places having hard time securing internet connection for online learning, while some have no means to acquire the necessary gadgets for distance learning.
“Kung saan ako muntik nang magkulang, maaga kong pupunuan. Dahil napaka-halaga ng pagaaral para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga kabataan,’’ he continued.
The Department of Education (DepEd) earlier moved the opening of the school year 2020-2021 to October 5 from August 24 due to the COVID-19 pandemic scare.
