A Los Angeles-based Filipina nurse was moved to tears when Ellen DeGeneres show up in front of her house to surprise her with an early Christmas present, a brand new Hyundai Palisade.
In a new episode, DeGeneres enlists television producer Andy Lassner to help her gave one family a Christmas gift they won't soon forget.
In the segment, Flor Maylyn Roz reveals that she had to take Uber rides after coronavirus left her cash-strapped.
“I became a nurse because since I was a kid, I love helping people. The pandemic has changed everything. People who are sick, since they cannot be visited by their family, I will be the one who’s gonna be by their side and let them know that there is this person who loves them,” she said.
She even exposed to the virus and she said she hasn't been home for months to see her husband and their two-year-old son.
“It’s just heartbreaking not to see your family. But I can’t do anything but to be strong for them,” she said.
The talk show host and the television producer personally surprise Flor by driving all the way to her doorstep the brand new white Hyundai Palisade. Emotional Flor couldn't help but scream in delight.
“It’s just amazing what you’ve been doing. I know that you and your husband are sharing one car. So I’ve partnered with Hyundai and they want to thank you for your service. They want to give you this Hyundai Palisade. This is your car. No more Ubers for you,” DeGeneres said.
Ellen thanked Roz for doing a difficult job.
“No more Ubers for you. Just remember how much we love you and appreciate you. When you’re exhausted and when there are times when you can barely go on anymore, just remember how many people love you and how many people are so grateful for you,” DeGeneres told the tearful nurse.
Roz was born and raised in Iligan City and immigrated to the United States with her mother.
