Frankie Pangilinan, Bianca Gonzalez say sorry for a tweets over Christine Dacera case

So far, the new year is not off to a very good start after a news of the young flight attendant who was discovered lifeless in a bathtub of a hotel room broke out. The death of Christine Dacera, 23, sparked outrage throughout the social media platforms - leaving other celebrities and netizens a quick call for justice by condemning all the alleged suspects involved.

According to police, there was a foul play in Dacera's death and filed provisional charge of rape with homicide before the Makati City Prosecutor's Office against 11 individuals. On January 5, the Philippine National Police declared Dacera's case "solved" following the arrest of the three suspects.

However, the Makati City Prosecutors Office later ordered the released of the three, noting the said evidence is insufficient.

Following the released of the three suspects, social media started to cool down. Celebrities such as Frankie Pangilinan and Bianca Gonzalez took back to their respective social media account to apologized for their remarks over the death of Dacera.

In her tweet, Frankie said sorry for her previous re-tweet containing the name of the suspects, but stood firm on her sentiments denouncing the rape culture.

"Before i sleep i’d just like to reiterate how absolutely sorry i am for helping to spread misinformation :(( the authorities’ statements were misleading and confusing (and still are) so i hope you can understand. regardless, rape will never be okay, though," she said.

"It’s really eating me up guys i read through articles before tweeting but i  should have waited knowing how the authorities function nowadays it’s sick and sad i’m really really sorry," she added.

Frankie promised to do better next time.

Like Frankie, Bianca also took to her Twitter account to expressed her sincere apology saying the call for justice remains to find truth for both Christine and the accused.

"I am one of those who posted using the term 'rape' and the hashtag justice because the authorities said it was rape. I feel ashamed but also so confused with the conflicting reports. The call for justice remains, but justice to find the truth for both Christine and the accused," Bianca said.

"My sympathies go out to Christine Dacera's family and friends, to everyone who might have been falsely accused in the news, what a nightmare this must be. I sincerely apologize for my tweet that added to the noise that it was 'rape.' Sana lumabas ang katotohanan," she added.

The complaint against the three and the other suspects will be subjected to further investigation that will be conducted on January 13.
