Kai Sotto opt to play for Gilas Pilipinas at Fiba bubble

 The 18-year-old, 7-foot-3, Kai Sotto, decided to play for the Philippines National Team, Gilas, at Fiba bubble. Kai took to his Instagram account and shared the news that he will be joining Gilas Pilipinas in the February 2021 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers.







Instead of entering the NBA G League bubble in Orlando on January 26, Sotto will going back to the Philippines. 







"I'm heading home soon. Sobrang excited ako na binigyan ng opportunity para makapaglaro sa Gilas ngayong February window. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng sumusuporta at naniniwala sa aking pangarap na makapaglaro para sa bayan at sa tamang panahon, sa NBA," Sotto said.





He will undergo the government-imposed quarantine once arrives in the Philippines before joining the Gilas training at the INSPIRE Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna. 





The Gilas draft selections are: Isaac Go, Rey Suerte and twins Mike and Matt Nieto were joined by Justine Baltazar, Javi Gomez de Liaño, Dave Ildefonso, Will Navarro, Calvin Oftana and Kemark Cariño. Also joining the rest of the pool are NLEX guard Kiefer Ravena and naturalized player candidate Angelo Kouame.







Gilas is currently leading the Group A with 3-0 against the teams from Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand. Gilas would faced South Korea on February 18, Indonesia on February 20 and another clash with Korea on February 22.
