Filipino family wins $60-M Lotto Max jackpot in Canada

John Chua, wife, Jhoana, along with his mother and uncle claimed a whopping $60 million prize on Tuesday. He never thought that it was him who won the the largest payout in the province's history.

John admits he was jealous when he knew from his wife that somebody won $60-million Lotto Max jackpot in Winnipeg. But, everything has change when he received an email from online site where he buys tickets informing him he'd won. Still he was not convinced, thinking it was maybe a free play.

He quickly shared the surprising news with his wife, Jhoana, mother, Angie Chua and uncle Ben Lagman.

He matched all the seven combination numbers for the draw - 11, 21, 23, 25, 28, 41 and 43.

“He always plays jokes – he’s a joker, so I didn’t believe it,” Angie said. “I believe now that it’s real.”

John says he'll likely keep playing the lottery and invest part of his money to buy a new home.

“I wasn’t really expecting anything – I was hoping for just a little to put toward a house,” explained John.

“There’s a lot of things that come to mind – but I’m going to take my time. I want to be wise. We’ve got kids and need to think for our future. I just want to take the time and do the smart thing.”
