Palace gives verdict to a viral video that earned online debate with a tag line "Is Lugaw Essential?"
In reaction to a viral video of a food delivery rider who was barred from giving a customer's "lugaw," Malacañang has this words to say.
"A video, which has been circulating online, has come to our attention. Lugaw, or any food item for that matter, is considered an essential good. Delivery of food items must remain unhampered 24/7," Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said.
Roque added that food delivery services are considered essential and are not restricted by the curfew. He also appealed to ECQ enforcers to not prohibit food deliveries at checkpoints.
The statement came after the viral video of unidentified woman who is a curfew implementer in the area and a Grab rider who was supposed to deliver 'lugaw'. It can be heard on their debate a woman enforcing the ECQ rules barred Grab rider to deliver to his customer the ordered 'lugaw'. According to the woman 'lugaw' is not essential because people will live without it.
"Mabubuhay ang tao nang walang lugaw,” the woman said
Despite the assertion of the rider, still, he did not succeed and the video ended.
Many netizens react on the viral video slamming the woman for her ability to understand the ECQ guidelines.
Meanwhile, Grab official Facebook page thanked their riders for their continued effort to deliver essential needs and following rules during the health pandemic.
