Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, who won the competition in 2015 expressed her joy with pride to Mateo's early exit.

Miss Mexico, Andrea Meza, won Miss Universe 2020. She was crowned by the former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.
