Miss Universe 2020 marked its 69th anniversary with seventy-four women to compete on Monday, May 17 (May 16 in the U.S.).
Miss Universe 2020 pageant format:
Only twenty one (21) candidates from the pool will be announced at the start of the pageant. The lucky 21 will then battle it out in the swimsuit round, with only ten of them advancing to the long gown competition.
The number will be trimmed down to final 5 after the long gown, which includes the question and answer (Q&A) portion.
Note: It remains unclear if there will be another round for top 3 contestants before announcing the new queen.
The Philippines representative Rabiya Mateo is eyeing to be the fifth Miss Universe crown, after Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).
