Julia Barretto joins Philippine Coast Guard K9 squad

 Julia Barretto is the Philippine Coast Guard newest celebrity recruit as she joined the Auxiliary K9 squadron on Wednesday, September 1.

PCG Auxiliary Lieutenant Commander and actor Gerald Anderson was also present in the oath-taking led by PCG Commander and CG Admiral George V. Ursabia at the PCG headquarters in Port Area, Manila.

The actress has pledged to actively serve the nation by supporting the Coast Guard in the performance of humanitarian missions and disaster response operations.

In behalf of the PCGA members and as the most senior appointee, "Auxiliary Ensign Barretto" was given an opportunity to thank the PCG for welcoming her into the field of public service.

During the event, the Coast Guard Commandant highlighted the increasing need for K9 units in the country for the promotion of national security.

Meanwhile, Gerald took to Instagram and shared several snaps of them at the Philippine Coast Guard headquarters. 

"Welcome to the PCGA K9 Special Support Squadron AUX ENS Julia Barretto," he wrote.

Prior to her official commitment, Julia was already seen in several PCG activities to support her boyfriend in the community service.
