Doctor Adam Smith known as the Filipino-speaking Australian doctor is permanently signing off on YouTube as he faces lawsuit filed against him by Filipino doctor Farrah Bunch-Agustin.
With over 2 million followers, Adam has been addressing alleged medical misinformation to Filipinos through videos since 2017 with the help of his Filipino wife, KC.
He said the lawsuit filed against him has resulted in him missing "many days at work" and spending over 200,000 Australian dollars (estimated P7.5 million). The vlogger doctor announced over the weekend that he and his wife decided to take a "different direction in life" following his content creation.
"KC and I had some chat and we decided we are going to stop YouTube," he said.
According to him, since he started YouTube, he received lots of "ad hominem attacks" and "legal threats/letters accusing me of cyber libel."
Adam also slammed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Health (DOH), politicians and celebrities for "being part of the problem."
"Alam ninyo kung gaano kadelikado and health claims ng ilang negosyo diyan sa Philippines! People are being harmed because of dangerous health claims being made by many companies," he said.
