Rice black bugs infestation in Nueva Ecija threatens rice farmers and cause damage to properties. In several photos posted on social media the pest has infested the cities and towns.
Some vehicular accidents have been recorded in Cabanatuan City due to slippery road cause by massive numbers of pest. ATM's were damaged and pungent smell was experienced in the area.
Locally known "atangya", the rice black bug is a sap-feeding insect and one of the most difficult rice pests to control. Locals are using torch as the pest attacks rice plants in irrigated farmlands.
