GIANT ASTEROID TWICE THE SIZE OF BURJ KHALIFA TO PASS BY EARTH ON JANUARY 18

 A huge asteroid is set to fly past earth on January 18 at a distance of 1,230,000 miles. The asteroid 7482, also known as 1994 PC1, is said to be twice the size of the tallest building on earth, the Burj Khalifa, measures 2,722 feet. 




US space agency NASA categorized it as a "potentially hazardous object" due to its relative proximity to the Earth while shooting past.




But on its tweet NASA said, "rest assured, 1994 PC1 will safely fly past our planet 1.2 million miles away next Tues. Jan. 18."




The asteroid will make its closest approach on January 18 at 4:51 pm EST. In terms of Indian Standard Time, that would mean around 2:45 am on January 19. The asteroid has a speed of around 45,000 miles per hour. 



the most recent asteroid to hit the planet was eight years ago in Russia which exploded in the atmosphere.
