The Department of Tourism (DOT) said that it has suspended Berjaya Hotel Makati's accreditation and its permit following the incident of a woman which coming from the U.S. and skipped her quarantine to party in Poblacion with friends.
The Tourism department also fined Berjaya "equivalent to twice the rack rate of its most expensive room."
A woman, identified as Gwyneth Chua, skipped quarantine at Berjaya was tested positive for COVID-19 and several other companions, including other some bar staff.
Chua was spotted leaving the hotel at 11:45 on December 22, or 15 minutes after she checked in according to the hotel CCTV footage, the DOT said.
She was supposed to be undergoing a mandatory five-day quarantine at the hotel until December 27 but returned back on the night of December 25. She underwent a swab test on December 26 and the result came out positive the next day.
