Will Smith shocked the audiences of the star-studded event on Sunday, March 27, when he took to the stage and slapped Chris Rock on the face after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair loss at the Oscars 2022.
"Jada, I love you," the comedian said, joking, "G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it." Pinkett Smith, 50, has been vocal about losing her hair due to alopecia.
At first, Will, seemed to join the crowd as he was seen smiling, he quickly walked onstage and slapped the 57 year-old actor across the face.
"Keep my wife's name out of your f-king mouth!" Smith yelled as he returned to his seat.
"Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s-t outta me," Rock said before he continue to handing out the award for best documentary.
While the academy was quick to addressed the incident on social media saying, it doesn't "condone violence of any form," many stars were deeply shocked.

Actress and activist Sophia Bush on the other hand called out Smith and Rock, stating that "assault is never the answer" and "both need a breather."
Violence isn’t ok. Assault is never the answer. Also? This is the 2nd time that Chris has made fun of Jada on the #Oscars stage, & tonight he went after her alopecia. Punching down at someone’s auto-immune disease is wrong. Doing so on purpose is cruel. They both need a breather.

Comedian Kathy Griffin: "Let me tell you something, it’s a very bad practice to walk up on stage and physically assault a Comedian.
Now we all have to worry about who wants to be the next Will Smith in comedy clubs and theaters."
