PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN CONGRATULATE BONGBONG MARCOS AHEAD OF OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION

United States President Joe Biden talked to presumptive Philippine president Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ahead of official proclamation.

After a landslide election result with over 31-million votes, world leaders are already lining up to congratulate Marcos - including US President Joe Biden who made a phone call.

"President Biden underscored that he looks forward to working with the President-elect to continue strengthening the U.S.-Philippine Alliance, while expanding bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues, including the fight against COVID-19, addressing the climate crisis, promoting broad-based economic growth, and respect for human rights," the White House statement read.

Marcos has invited Biden to his inauguration on June 30, "which could further fortify the relationship of the two countries," Marcos said in a statement.

Meanwhile, spokesperson, Atty. Vic Rodriguez, said that the Philippines' relationship with the United States "will get better" under the Marcos Jr. administration.

"As far as our relationship with the United States, under the administration of president-elect Bongbong, I assure you now that it will get better," Rodriguez told in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel.

Marcos Jr. also received congratulatory message from Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying he was "delighted" upon learning the initial election results.
