RT-PCR TEST NO LONGER REQUIRED TO ENTER PHILIPPINES FOR TRAVELERS WITH BOOSTER SHOTS

The Philippines will no longer requiring RT-PCR test to incoming travelers in the country as long as they are fully vaccinated beginning May 30.

According to acting Deputy Presidential Spoksperson and Communications Undersecretary Michael Kristian Ablan, the new protocol was contained in the resolution approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said the new rule to ease further the travel requirements is part of the government measures to help fully revive the economy.

"All types of vaccination certificates, regardless of country of origin, will also be accepted," she said.

"The Department of Tourism (DOT) sees this development as a win for the local tourism industry as welcoming more tourists in the country will yield more revenues for our small businesses and restore more jobs and livelihoods in the sector," she added.

Puyat added that insurance "is no longer required but still highly encouraged for arriving passengers."

Unvaccinated Travelers:

Tourists who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated or have unverified vaccination status must present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 48-hours or a negative laboratory- based antigen test result administered and certified by a healthcare professional taken within 24 hours prior to the date of departure.

They are required to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of negative RT-PCR test taken on the fifth day from the date of arrival.

The relaxed protocol likewise applies to arriving Filipinos traveling to the Philippines, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.
