JOHNNY DEPP FANS CELEBRATE OVER DEFAMATION VERDICT AGAINST AMBER HEARD

Johnny Depp celebrates defamation verdict as US jury on Wednesday sided the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star against ex-wife Amber Heard.

After seven weeks of intense testimony on bitterly contested allegations of domestic abuse, a jury in Fairfax, Virginia has ruled in favour of Johnny Depp.

The 58-year-old actor said that a US jury "gave me my life back". It was a unanimous decision where the jury of five-man and two-woman found Heard liable for all three counts of defamation against Depp and awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

Meanwhile, Heard says she is "heartbroken" by the decision, "The disappointment I feel Today is Beyon Words."

Heard called it a "setback" for women.

"I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband," the 36-year-old Heard said in a statement.

Depp supporters were posted outside for the verdict, one man sporting  a "Jack Sparrow" pirate hat and a woman with a placard reading: "No matter what happens today, Johnny, you are a winner!!! And the whole word knows the TRUTH.

Depp, who's not in court for the verdict quickly took to Instagram and said: "Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed," Depp said.
