Public school learners will not be required to wear school uniforms for the coming school year, the Department of Education (DepEd) said on Monday.
"Even before the pandemic, it is not a strict requirement for public schools to wear uniforms (DepEd Order No. 065, s.2010) to avoid incurring additional costs to the families of our learners," Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte said.
Due to the increasing prices and as the country continues to grapple with coronavirus pandemic, Duterte stressed that the agency must be more considerate.
Classes for this school year will push through on August 22, with public and private schools have the option to do five-day in-person classes, blended modality, or distance learning. Face-to-face classes will fully resume in November.
