DONNALYN BARTOLOME'S 'KANTO-THEMED' BIRTHDAY PARTY HAS IGNITED A HUGE BACKLASH ONLINE DEBATE

Donnalyn Bartolome's fans are arguing over her latest "kanto"-themed birthday party, which others described it unrealistic.

"My Kanto Birthday Party is not just a concept, this was my life when I left home abroad where my life was comfortable.. pero hindi mo maaabot pangarap mo sa pagiging komportable lagi," she wrote on her Facebook post along with a series of photos during her "kanto" birthday party.

"Kaya nung umalis ako saamin to work here sa Pinas, hindi ko inaasahan, kahit mahirap, isa siya sa adventure ko sa buhay na hindi ko makakalimutan. So I relived the times when I was just starting out on my bday last month July 9, just like nung time na walang wala pa ako.. pero nandiyan yung mga taong mahal ako kahit butas butas ang shorts.. at murang sapatos at tsinelas lang kaya kong bilihin," she added.

Her YouTube video uploaded on August 11 has raked over 3.7 million views and currently one of the top trending videos in the Philippines.

However, not all the people who have seen her photos are happy about how she celebrated her birthday on the streets.

Below are some of the most interesting mixed comments expressed by the netizens. But don't think the debate has to end here. If you want to have your voice heard, sound off in the comments below.

One said: "What’s with Donnalyn Bartolome and her obsession with glamorizing poverty???? I mean if you want to connect with your fans that ain’t the route sis."

Another one said: "Di ko gets, kc kht walang wala kame, never kme nag-cake ng ganyan. Di bale nang walang cake 🤕"

"Grabe si donnalyn bartolome, ginagawang aesthetic lang ung reality ng iba. sabagay masaya nga naman matry for fun yung kahirapan kasi kinabukasan babalik ka na sa komportableng buhay mo," and another one.

Meanwhile, others have came to her defense and said: "Idk why y'all are pressed about Donnalyn's bday celeb, as a person who's currently living in "kanto", I'm not even offended by it. Maybe that's how she celebrate it before, she just wanted to do it again. Y'all are so overly sensitive, let people enjoy things, lahat nalang issue."

Another one: "it's like a meme circulating fb?? she never said that kahit mahirap 'yan na agad cake mo? be compressive muna before u talk."
