The song is based on vocalist Paolo Guico's past heartbreak which ended into 'peace, acceptance, respect and closure'. And it is, without a doubt, the ultimate Ben&Ben break up song.
On Instagram, Paolo shared a little details about the song 'The Ones We Once Loved'.
"I myself, am both excited and terrified to share it with you, as it is one of the most personal, and vulnerable song I've ever written," he wrote.
There is something about this song that really encapsulates what you experience when you go this kind of heartaches, particularly a breakup that you weren't ready for.
"As most of you may have known, a few years ago, I was in a long-term relationship which you've known much about, cos we shared a bit of our journey with you," Paolo started.
"And then, it ended . The time that passed since then has been an incredible journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth for the both of us, individually."
"Eventually, peace, acceptance, respect for the past, and closure came. It wasn't easy, and there were many emotions that went into that process."
"Those emotions are in the song you are about to hear. So, my prayer is that if you are going through your own process right now, or there are unspoken feelings ot thoughts you may still have, may this song help you through them. May you have the closure you search for, and the happiness you deserve," he added.
