83-YEAR-OLD MAN IN DAVAO SETS RECORD AS OLDEST PERSON TO CLIMB MT.APO

 Pascacio Carcedo, 83, has become the oldest person to climb Mount Apo, the tallest peak in the Philippines.



Carcedo was honored by the Davao del Sur Tourism Office for setting a new record following 80-year-old Singaporean man, Peter Chong.



He first tried three lower mountains as his preparation for his journey to Mt. Apo. He received the Santa Cruz Trailblazer award. Carcedo was accompanied by a team which included local mountain guides.

He is a farmer from Barangay Tacunan, Davao City, with his dream to reach Mt. Apo despite his old age.



Mt. Apo has an elevation of 2,954 meters (9,692) above sea level located between Davao City and Davao del Sur province.
