Heart Evangelista is a step closer to trying for a baby after completing her in vitro fertilization treatment.
In the September issue of L'Officiel Philippines, Heart opens up about her painful in-vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure. She described it as "one of the toughest, challenging times" in her life.
"I had three injections a day over a two-week process," said the 37-year-old actress.
"After harvesting and the processes that came after, they were able to gather the perfect boy and the perfect girl," she added.
Evangelista's IVF journey was rather difficult as she struggled with infertility over several years and is known to have experienced a miscarriage in 2018. But her decision comes after she made a thousand times of considerations of having a baby.
"I actually have a baby boy and baby girl waiting for me, but I'm really at this stage in life where (I ask myself), 'Do I want a child because I want a child? or 'Do I want a child because the environment or culture dictates that I should have a child?"
She said the entire process has change herself as a person, "I'm standing up for myself. It's liberating to decide according to what I want and not what other people want."
She also encouraged women with similar situation and wanted to having a child any time to consider IVF, as it "buys them time."
"Also, the process is available in the Philippines and not just abroad," she said.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) was an option for infertility treatment and it gives hope to couples who are struggling to conceive children.
