LOOK: PRESIDENT BONGBONG MARCOS IS IN INDONESIA TO MEET THE FILIPINO COMMUNITY

Filipinos in Indonesia warmly welcomed the visit of the seventeenth president of the Philippines, President Bongbong Marcos.

The joy and smiles of OFWs in Indonesia are visible on the faces of President Bongbong Marcos' first state visit.


On the first day of his State Visit to the Republic of Indonesia, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. meets with the Filipino community in a gathering at the Fairmont Jakarta Hotel in the capital city of Jakarta on September 4, 2022.



In the May 2022 elections, President Marcos Jr. garnered more than 50% of the total votes from overseas Filipinos in Indonesia.


The Chief Executive then delivers a message to his kababayans who came from all over Indonesia during the community conference. 



The Republic of Indonesia is the first nation to be visited by President Marcos Jr. since his inauguration as the 17th President of the Republic of the Philippines.


According to Charge d’Affaires, ad interim, Bryan Dexter Lao of the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, the latest data from the Ministry of Manpower for the first half of 2022 indicates that there are approximately 3,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Indonesia.  Most Filipinos are based in Jakarta (663), Riau Province (209), Riau Islands (201), Papua (330), Java (256), and Sumatra (42).



In RTVM news it is said that more than 70% of Filipinos in Indonesia are professionals, with nearly 20% employed as consultants by various businesses and companies, as well as teachers, accountants, lawyers, engineers, and technical advisers. 


The said professionals are highly admired by their Indonesian and foreign employers, as well as colleagues, for their professionalism and achievements.
