A grieving family of the pet dog golden retriever who passed away has decided to turn the beloved fur into a rug so that they could still touch him forever.
On Instagram post of @chimerataxidermy, a professional who was hired by the family, it showed a closer look of the finished product with a short clip.
"Beautiful old golden retriever preserved as a pelt for his family. Finally ready to head home," the caption read.
The procedure is called 'taxidermy' where it "has been tanned and turned to leathers so the fur won't fall out."
"Pet taxidermy has only really become popular in the last five years or so, so it's a very new thing to see for most people," Chimera Taxidermy owner said in an interview with Yahoo News Australia.
While the others found it disturbing, the owner admitted that the process is "definitely not for everyone " and that she "absolutely respects that."
"Some are more of a sentimental keepsake, others are on display resting in their beds or however their owners wanted them preserved," she said.
