MINA SUE CHOI OF SOUTH KOREA IS THE NEWLY CROWNED MISS EARTH 2022, PH FINISHES ON TOP 20

In the recently concluded pageant, Mina Sue Choi of South Korea was crowned Miss Earth 2022. Mina defeated 85 other candidates for Miss Earth 2022 in Okada Manila, Paranaque City.

Mina Sue, a communication student,  made history as the first South Korean beauty queen to win a crown in a prestigious pageant.

She promoted the reduction of carbon footprints in the cities with sustainable mobility and encourages a lifestyle that would help reduce carbon emissions in our daily lives.

In the final question-answer portion, the candidates were asked the same questions: "What is one thing that you want to correct in this world and how would you correct it?" 

Mina Sue Choi answered, "If there's something I would correct in this world it would be being empathetic. We often mistake kindness as being empathetic but being empathetic is putting yourself into someone else's shoes and when it comes to climate issues and other issues in this world one has to be empathetic. You really need to see how the other person perceives this world, you need to understand their pain being in their shoes and that, I feel like the first with being empathetic, kindness, and empathetic can be different.

Miss Fire 2022 -Andrea Arroyave of Colombia

Making it up to the top 8 were Zimbabwe, Belgium, Puerto Rico, and the Netherlands.

The top 12 included Brazil, Cuba, Portugal, and, Nigeria.

Jenny Ramp of the Philippines made it to the top 20 along with Ethiopia, Namibia, Ireland, Slovenia, Vietnam, Norway, and, the Czech Republic.

Liliya Levaya of Belarus won in the Best in National Costume for Europe category.
