Eat Bulaga has parted ways with TV production company Television and Production Exponent (TAPE), Inc. after more than a month Tito spoke up about the controversies surrounding the long-running noontime show in the Philippines.
On Wednesday, May 31, the episode of Eat Bulaga was aired on YouTube and not on GMA broadcast channel. Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon appeared emotional as they announced their departure.
"Pumasok po kaming lahat ngayong araw para magtrabaho pero hindi po kamipinayagan ng new management na umere ng live," said Tito.
Vic also expressed his thanks after a decades of giving the Filipino people a joy.
"Kaya naman lubos ang aming pasasalamat sa mga naging tahanan namin - ang RPN9 for 9 years, ABS-CBN for 6 years, at ang GMA for 28 years."
Joey added, "Salamat po."
Eat Bulaga hosts Maine Mendoza and Pauleen Luna-Sotto were among the celebrities who expressed their support to the noontime show.
"Hanggang sa muli, dabarkads. maraming salamat, @eatbulaga1979," she wrote on Instagram.
Pauleen Luna-Sotto on her part uploaded a clip of Tito, Vic, and Joey on Instagram as they were announcing the show's exit from the production company.
"Hindi ko naiintindihan ang nararamdaman ko. Lungkot ba o saya?
Kahit saang network sila mapadpad, walang paltos silang makakalipad," said Ice Seguerra.
