Bacolod's Burgos Public Market to Get P525M Facelift

The Bacolod City government has allocated P525 million for the renovation of the Burgos Public Market. The project is expected to start in 2024 and will be funded by a P4.4 billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).

The new market will be a two-story structure with 900 stalls, up from the current 740 stalls. It will also feature high ceilings for better air circulation, a food court on the second floor, and a terminal for jeepneys plying routes to Brgy. Granada and Alangilan.

A parking area will also be provided on the second floor to address traffic congestion in the area.

To accommodate the vendors during the construction phase, a temporary market will be put up on a 20,000 square meter vacant lot in Brgy. 19. The old market will be demolished once the temporary market is in operation.

Major renovations will also be undertaken in the Central and Libertad Markets.

The renovation of the Burgos Public Market is part of the city government's efforts to modernize its public markets and improve the lives of its residents.
