Fil-Am Influencer Bretman Rock Campaigns for Hei Hei Role in Live-Action Moana

Fil-Am social media influencer Bretman Rock is campaigning hard for the role of Hei Hei, the scatterbrained chicken, in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's Moana. He has already sent a voice audition to Dwayne Johnson, who voiced Maui in the original animated film, but he's now taking things to the next level by doing a live performance while wearing a chicken suit.

In a recent video, Bretman said, "Hey the Rock, it is I, Bretman Rock, and this is one of my chickens. Today, I'm going to be doing a live audition. I understand that my last audition was a voice audition, and I understand that the new movie is a live-action, so I'm sure you would want a Hei Hei that can act."

Bretman then channeled his inner Hei Hei by putting a coconut shell on his head and screaming like a chicken. This is a reference to a scene in the film where a shocked Hei Hei discovers that he has unwittingly joined Moana on her ocean adventure.

In the caption of the video, Bretman urged his followers to tag Dwayne Johnson so that he would stop "bothering the man."

Bretman isn't the only one who wants to see him play Hei Hei. His fans have also started a petition on Change.org, which has now gathered more than 2,600 signatures.

The petition states that Bretman's "vibrant personality and unique voice would bring an exciting new dimension to the character of Hei Hei." It also argues that his casting would be a "significant step towards better representation within Hollywood where Asian-Americans account for only one percent of leading roles despite making up 5.6 percent of the US population."

Dwayne Johnson announced in April that the 2016 film will be getting a live-action remake. He will return as Maui, but the role of Moana will be recast.
