Kacey Dela Rosa Named UAAP Women's Basketball MVP

In just her second season in the UAAP, Kacey Dela Rosa has already established herself as one of the league's top players. The 6-foot center was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of UAAP Season 86 Women's Basketball Tournament.

Dela Rosa's stellar performance helped lead the Ateneo Blue Eagles to back-to-back Final Four appearances. The Blue Eagles last won the UAAP championship in Season 70 (2007).

Despite her individual success, Dela Rosa remains focused on team goals. "I'm happy, but this is just a bonus," she said. "Our goal is to win the championship."

Dela Rosa averaged 19.57 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.64 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game in Season 86. She accumulated 83.857 statistical points to win the MVP title.

The last Ateneo player to win the UAAP Women's Basketball MVP award was Cassy Tioseco in Seasons 69 and 70.

Dela Rosa was also named to the Mythical Team, along with UST's Kent Pastrana, Ateneo's Junize Calago, and UST's Tantoy Ferrer.

Far Eastern University's Congolese center Josee Kaputu was the runner-up for MVP. Kaputu averaged 21.93 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 1.57 steals per game.

Dela Rosa's future is bright, and she is expected to be one of the leaders of the Gilas Pilipinas Women's national team for years to come.
