De La Salle and UP Stars Shine Bright as UAAP Season 86 Awards Announced

 MANILA, Philippines - Two of the UAAP Season 86 Men's Basketball Tournament's most formidable teams, the De La Salle Green Archers and the UP Fighting Maroons, were well-represented in the league's top awards, announced earlier today at the Araneta Coliseum.



La Salle's versatile forward Kevin Quiambao was named the tournament's MVP and also earned a spot in the Mythical Five. His teammate, graduating point guard Evan Nelle, also made the Mythical Five lineup.



“I'm overjoyed to finally receive the MVP award. I've joined the list of La Salle MVPs,” Quiambao said of his honor.



Nelle, on the other hand, expressed his desire for the UAAP championship.





“It's an honor, it's really nice, but I want the bigger one,” the senior said.



KQ garnered 97.0 SPs, the highest among all players, while Nelle secured third place with 77.538 SPs.



Reigning Season 85 MVP Malick Diouf joined the duo after amassing 74.769 SPs, placing him fourth overall.



In another individual award, Francis Lopez was named the Rookie of the Year after accumulating 60.357 SPs.



Finally, Rey Remogat, who finished second to KQ with 85.929 SPs, also made the league's best five this year. L-Jay Gonzales completed the list, placing fifth in total SPs with 66.857.



These individual achievements underscore the exceptional talent and contributions of these players throughout the season. As the UAAP Season 86 Men's Basketball Tournament reaches its climax, these stars will undoubtedly play pivotal roles in determining the championship outcome.
