The 2023 Bar exams topnotcher, Ephraim Bie, and fellow Thomasian law graduate Pio Buencamino, who ranked 8th, have been showered with nearly P2 million worth of incentives from members of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Law community.

Bie, who scored a remarkable 89.2625%, received the lion's share of the rewards, including:

  •     P1.25 million from DivinaLaw Foundation, founded by the current dean of the university's Faculty of Civil Law, Atty. Nilo Divina.

  •     P500,000 from Thomasian lawyer Rey Oben.

  •     P200,000 from the UST Law Alumni Foundation, Inc.

Buencamino, who secured an impressive 88.2500%, was no less blessed with support, receiving:

  •     P530,000 from DivinaLaw Foundation.

  •     P100,000 from Oben.

  •     P100,000 from the UST Law Alumni Foundation Inc.

These generous rewards highlight the strong sense of community and pride within the UST Law family, eager to recognize and support the achievements of their brightest graduates.

UST itself performed admirably in the 2023 Bar exams, placing fifth among top-performing schools with 100 or more examinees. Out of 10,387 examinees, only 3,812 passed, resulting in a 36.77% passing rate.

Bie's and Buencamino's exceptional performances and the outpouring of support from the UST community serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring lawyers, demonstrating the dedication, perseverance, and rewards that come with pursuing a legal career.
