In a remarkable journey of perseverance and dedication, a former seaman identified as Vincent Eldion Sumagaysay Javellana has achieved his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.
Exactly ten years ago, after graduating from the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific with a degree in Marine Transportation, he embarked on a successful career at sea.
However, in November 2018, now Dr. Javellana made a bold decision to leave the maritime industry and pursue his childhood passion for medicine.
Taking a significant leap of faith, he took the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), despite his limited background in Biology and Chemistry. Despite the challenges, he persevered and embarked on his medical journey.
The road to becoming a doctor was undoubtedly arduous, but he was able to overcome obstacles with unwavering determination and the unwavering support of his loved ones. His family, including his parents and younger sister, provided invaluable encouragement and patience throughout his academic pursuits.
