Ira Pablo, daughter of former PBA star Vic, has finally decided to speak out about her unexpected termination from her dream job as a courtside reporter in 2022. Despite the incident occurring two years ago, the pain and confusion surrounding her dismissal have continued to linger, prompting her to break her silence.

Pablo shared that she felt a deep sense of closure was necessary to move forward, as the experience had significantly impacted her. Initially, Pablo's appointment as a courtside reporter in 2022 marked a significant milestone in her career. She had long aspired to this role and believed she had achieved one of her life's goals.
"Sobrang saya ko talaga. It was a childhood dream come true."
However, her excitement quickly turned to disappointment when she was abruptly removed from her position after reporting on approximately 10 games. The reason for her dismissal was never explicitly communicated to her. It was only later, through speculation and personal deductions, that Pablo concluded the underlying cause was her perceived overweight.
"Ang saklap. Hindi ako nainform na requirement pala ang 25-inch waistline para mag cover sa PBA, akala ko sportscasting skills ang kailangan," wrote Ira in her Facebook post on Oct. 15.
"After covering just about 10 PBA games, all of a sudden, wala na akong assigned games," Pablo recalled.
Pablo believes that her physical appearance, deemed inappropriate by certain executives at the company covering PBA games, was the sole reason for her firing. While she was never explicitly told this, multiple sources within the network confirmed that her plus-size figure was the cause of her dismissal.
Pablo, who began reporting on PBA games during the league's 47th season in 2022, expressed her frustration and disappointment over the unfair treatment she received. She emphasized that her dismissal was not due to a lack of skill or preparation but rather to factors unrelated to her reporting abilities. Pablo's dream of following in her father's footsteps and becoming a prominent figure in the PBA was shattered by this unfortunate incident.
