The Philippine national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, has held its position at No. 34 in the latest FIBA World Ranking Men. Despite a historic win over New Zealand and a dominant victory over Hong Kong in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers, the team's overall ranking remained unchanged.
The November 21 win against New Zealand marked a significant milestone for Gilas Pilipinas, as it was their first-ever victory over the Tall Blacks. The team's perfect 4-0 record in the qualifiers secured their spot in the FIBA Asia Cup, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in August.
In the Asian rankings, Gilas Pilipinas retained its No. 7 position. Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Iran, Lebanon, and China continue to occupy the top six spots in the region.
