High-End Models and Pricing
Tesla is initially offering two of its best-selling models: the Model 3 and Model Y. These premium electric vehicles come with hefty price tags, starting at P2.109 million and P2.369 million, respectively. While exempt from Metro Manila's number coding scheme, these vehicles are targeted at a niche market of affluent consumers.
Performance and Range
The Model 3, touted as the world's best-selling electric sedan, boasts impressive acceleration and a substantial range of 629 kilometers per charge. The Model Y, a versatile SUV, offers similar performance figures and can accommodate up to five passengers.
Charging Infrastructure and Costs
Tesla is establishing a network of Supercharger stations across the Philippines, with the first four located at Uptown Mall. Charging costs P19 per kilowatt-hour, translating to approximately P1,140 for a full charge.
Growing EV Market
The Philippines' EV market has been steadily growing, with sales figures increasing significantly in recent years. However, EVs still represent a small fraction of the overall automotive market. As Tesla enters the scene, it is expected to further stimulate interest in electric vehicles and contribute to the country's transition to a more sustainable future.
