Squid Game 2: Bigger, Badder, and More Brutal

Lucca, Italy - The highly anticipated second season of the global phenomenon, "Squid Game," is set to be even more intense and deadly. Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has revealed that the new season will feature a larger cast of characters and more gripping challenges than its predecessor.

During the first global promotional event for the new season in the historic Tuscan city of Lucca, Hwang also hinted at a potential English-language version of the show. Additionally, he confirmed that a third season is already in post-production.

The original "Squid Game" took the world by storm in 2021, becoming Netflix's most-watched series ever. The show's success led to numerous accolades, including Emmy Awards for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Lee Jung-jae. These awards marked a historic moment, as they were the first for a non-English language series.

Season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on December 26th, 2023, will see the return of Gi-hun, the sole survivor of the first season. However, this time, Gi-hun is driven by a thirst for revenge rather than a desire to win the deadly games. He aims to dismantle the organization behind the games and bring its members to justice.

Joining Hwang Dong-hyuk at the Lucca Comics & Games event, Lee Jung-jae discussed the pressure to surpass the original series. He revealed that his character, Gi-hun, has undergone a significant transformation, evolving from a gambling addict to a determined avenger.

Recent reports suggest that renowned director David Fincher is working on an English-language adaptation of "Squid Game" for Netflix. While Hwang Dong-hyuk couldn't confirm the news officially, he expressed admiration for Fincher's work and anticipation for the potential project.

As fans eagerly await the release of Season 2, it's clear that the "Squid Game" universe is expanding, promising even more thrilling and deadly challenges.
