A devastating shooting incident in Lancaster, California, early Saturday morning resulted in the tragic loss of four lives, including two Filipino siblings.
Victims Janvi Maquindang and Christine Asa-Ca, along with Asa-Ca’s fiancé Edwin Garcia, were fatally shot. Additionally, three dogs were killed. Matthew Montebello, Maquindang’s partner, succumbed to gunshot wounds later at the hospital.
Upon arrival at the scene around 1 a.m. Saturday, authorities discovered a house fire. While no arrests have been made, the cause of the fire and the motive behind the shooting remain undisclosed.
Asa-Ca was a legal guardian to two younger siblings who were present during the incident. The Maquindang family has established a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses and the care of the surviving children.
The family described the crime as a “senseless act of gun violence” and expressed their profound grief over the loss of their loved ones. While the surviving siblings were physically unharmed, they are grappling with significant emotional trauma.
The family seeks support to help the children cope with the loss of their sister and brother and navigate the aftermath of this tragedy.
