The Embraer 190 aircraft was en route from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia, when it deviated from its intended course and crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities examining various factors, including weather conditions and potential technical malfunctions.

The news of the crash sent shockwaves across Azerbaijan, prompting President Ilham Aliyev to declare a national day of mourning as a mark of respect for the victims and their families. The president also canceled a planned visit to Russia for an informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Rescue and recovery efforts were immediately launched, with emergency responders working tirelessly to reach the crash site and provide assistance to survivors.

The crash has deeply affected the nation, with many expressing their condolences and offering support to the families of the victims. Flags were flown at half-mast across the country, and public events were canceled or postponed as a sign of respect.

The Azerbaijani government has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash, ensuring transparency and accountability.
