La Salle Dominates UP, Advances to PGFlex Invitational Final

La Salle Green Archers, led by the impressive performance of Mason Amos, cruised to an 83-70 victory over the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, securing their spot in the PGFlex Linoleum Invitational Tournament finals on Thursday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Amos, who previously scored 19 points against Olivarez College, continued his hot streak, dropping 20 points, including four three-pointers, and grabbing 11 rebounds. His dominant performance earned him the Finals MVP award.

With Amos, Santi Romero, Bright Nwankwo, and Russel Ogana leading the charge, La Salle quickly established a 14-3 advantage and extended it to a 17-point lead in the second quarter. The absence of UP’s top scorer, Rey Remogat, further hindered the Fighting Maroons’ efforts.

Nwankwo and Ogano contributed 18 and 17 points, respectively, while Jacob Cortez, despite a modest scoring output of 6 points, effectively orchestrated the offense, leading to 44 points in the paint and 15 points on fast breaks.

In the battle for third place, Centro Escolar University defeated Olivarez College, 80-66.

As La Salle prepares to face UP again in the UAAP starting on December 8th, their recent success in the PGFlex Invitational Tournament will undoubtedly boost their confidence and momentum.
