Petro Gazz continued their dominant run in the PVL All-Filipino Conference, sweeping Akari 28-26, 29-27, 25-18 on Thursday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. This victory marks their second straight win.
Brooke van Sickle and Myla Pablo led the charge for Petro Gazz, combining for 34 points. Van Sickle impressed with 19 points, 15 attacks, and 13 digs, while Pablo contributed 15 points, including 13 kills, a block, and an ace.
Blove Barbon's solid defense, with 12 digs, further solidified Petro Gazz's victory. The team's 3-1 record reflects their strong performance, especially after their recent sweep of Farm Fresh.
Van Sickle praised her team's focus and camaraderie, highlighting the crucial role of Rem Palma in keeping the team calm and composed.
"Coming off our rest, we were able to stay focused in those tight matches. I'm super proud of everyone, especially Rem, who did a great job keeping us calm and focused," said Van Sickle.
Akari, despite a valiant effort, couldn't overcome Petro Gazz's dominance. Ivy Lacsina led the Chargers with 21 attack points, but it wasn't enough to prevent their third consecutive loss.
Petro Gazz will face PLDT on Tuesday, while Akari will take on Chery Tiggo, both at the PhilSports Arena.
