Wembanyama's Clutch Free Throws Seal Spurs' Win Over Blazers

 San Antonio, TX – Victor Wembanyama’s late-game heroics propelled the San Antonio Spurs to a thrilling 118-116 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.



Wembanyama finished with 28 points, including two crucial free throws with 2.1 seconds remaining to seal the deal. The Blazers, who led by as much as 17 points in the fourth quarter, fought back to tie the game at 116 with 6.1 seconds left on a Jerami Grant layup. However, Grant fouled Wembanyama, who calmly sank both free throws to give the Spurs the victory.



Despite the late-game drama, the Blazers dominated much of the second half. Grant led the way with 32 points, including a 22-point explosion in the third quarter. Anfernee Simons also contributed 30 points for Portland.

For the Spurs, Devin Vassell provided a spark off the bench with 23 points. The team was short-handed, missing several players due to injuries and losing veteran guard Chris Paul to ejection in the first half.



Nuggets Dominate Clippers, Jokic Quiet

In Denver, the Nuggets cruised to a 120-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, despite a relatively quiet performance from Nikola Jokic. While Jokic finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, and two assists, his teammates stepped up to fill the void. Jamal Murray led the way with 20 points, and Michael Porter Jr. added 17.

The Clippers, led by James Harden’s 15 points, struggled to contain the Nuggets’ offensive onslaught. Denver’s defense was particularly impressive, holding Los Angeles to just 98 points.

Timberwolves Top Lakers, Edwards Shines

In Minneapolis, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 97-87, with Anthony Edwards scoring 23 points. Rudy Gobert added 13 rebounds and 12 points. The Timberwolves extended their dominance over the Lakers, improving to 14-2 against them at home since the 2015-16 season.



LeBron James missed his second consecutive game for the Lakers due to a foot injury and personal reasons. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 23 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Timberwolves’ strong performance.

Pacers Edge 76ers, Embiid Injured

In Philadelphia, the Indiana Pacers defeated the 76ers 121-107. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 32 points and 11 assists. Joel Embiid, who was playing just his sixth game of the season, suffered a sinus fracture and left the game in the first half. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 22 points.
