Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts Strike Gold in Gov. Bong Lacson Volleyball Tournament

 BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts proved their dominance in the 14-and-under category of the Gov. Bong Lacson Grassroots Volleyball Tournament, securing the championship title with a decisive victory over Elite Talisay.


The young Thunderbolts showcased their skills and teamwork on Sunday at the Montalbo Gym, winning the championship match in straight sets: 25-22, 25-18, 25-20.



Marishka Alexandria Andrada led the charge for the Thunderbolts, earning both the Most Valuable Player and Best Setter awards for her outstanding performance.

The team also collected a number of individual awards, with Annicka Zoe Chua named Best Server, Luchi Vivero as Best Libero, Memielle Letran as 2nd Best Outside Hitter, Zelver Banguiao as 1st Best Middle Blocker, and Kara Feril as Best Opposite Hitter.

The Thunderbolts roster boasts a talented lineup, including Maria Shannen Bañas, Xadrej Zade Española, Kyana Danisse Cortez, Nicole Getino, Jemimah Jaslyn Calvo, Athena Danielle Magbanua, and Samantha Cañete. The team is led by head coach Roemel Taniñas and team manager Jose Montalbo.



Montalbo expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "With coach Roemel, these young ladies are just continuing their preparation and improvement for them to be ready when they are called up for the seniors team."

Elite Talisay also had standout players, with Kristel Mae Mirasol and Sophie Nicole Pamplona recognized as 1st Best Outside Hitter and 2nd Best Middle Blocker, respectively.


While the Thunderbolts triumphed in the 14-and-under category, they fell short in the 12-and-under division, finishing as runners-up to Sanjus Cebuana.

Despite the loss, the 12-and-under Thunderbolts showcased their talent, with Chennie Mae Millama earning the Best Server award, Cielo Palabrica named Best Libero, and Mari Cacho recognized as 1st Best Outside Hitter.

The Gov. Bong Lacson Grassroots Volleyball Tournament provided a platform for young volleyball players to showcase their skills and compete against top teams, fostering the growth and development of the sport in the region.
