Filipino-American guard Chris Koon is considering entering the PBA Season 50 Rookie Draft later this year.

Fresh off his stint with Strong Group Athletics-Pilipinas in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, the 6-foot-5 guard revealed his plans in an interview with DWAR Abante Radyo’s Sports Now program.

"My future plan is I will go back home to California (after the Dubai International Basketball Championship), continue to train and look for all the options, and if not, I am going to the PBA," Koon stated.

Koon recently concluded his collegiate career with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, where he was part of the championship-winning team in UAAP Season 85.  In his final season (Season 87), he averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists per game. Despite his contributions, the Blue Eagles finished with a 4-10 record, landing in eighth place.

His time with Strong Group Athletics-Pilipinas provided Koon with valuable experience, playing alongside notable names in Philippine basketball like Mikey Williams, Rhenz Abando, and  UAAP teammate Angelo Kouame.  The team also boasts  former NBA players DeMarcus Cousins, Malachi Richardson, Chris McCullough, and Andray Blatche, providing Koon with a taste of high-level competition.

Koon's size and skillset make him an intriguing prospect for PBA teams looking for a versatile guard. His experience playing both collegiate and international basketball should serve him well in the professional league.

While Koon is exploring all his options, his potential entry into the PBA draft adds another exciting dimension to the upcoming season. Fans will be eager to see if he decides to take his talents to the professional level and which team will have the opportunity to draft him.
